Armstrong elementary is committed to fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly environment. We believe that small actions at school and at home can make a big difference in our collective effort towards a greener future. The Blackearth compost company currently uses the food waste from the Armstrong cafeteria and all WPS cafeterias so that uneaten food does not end up in a landfill and can be used once the composting process is complete.
Recently, the Armstrong Parent Group funded a 65 gallon composting tumbler that will be added to the AES courtyard. Students will be able to observe and participate in the composting process. The compost that is created with the composting tumbler will be used in the six garden beds that are also located in the fully enclosed Armstrong courtyard. Thank you Armstrong Parent Group for funding the new composting tumbler!
