Hello Armstrong students and families,

This year, we will continue our community volunteering efforts at Armstrong.  We have named this Armstrong Kids Care.

Through Armstrong Kids Care, we want to help build character in our students and establish close ties with our local community through volunteering and other charitable activities.  We have a particular focus on helping the senior citizens of Westborough. Some of the activities we have done in the past include a food packaging event, monthly food drive, Rainbow Looming for charity and Senior Sunshine packages, among others.

We will kick off the year with our monthly food drive to benefit the Westborough Food Pantry beginning in October, with a visit from Phil Kittredge, the Westborough Food Pantry director. Some other planned activities you will hear about include Veteran’s Day thank you cards, Senior Sunshine packages, Student Sunshine packages, Earth Day clean-up and Meals on Wheels fill-in shifts.

Armstrong also participates in the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) program which recognizes citizen volunteering with awards.  Students can track their hours spent on volunteering and qualify for awards. For more information about our involvement in the PVSA program and how to track hours, please click here.  For a PVSA submission form, please click here .

We will communicate more about this program in the coming weeks through Connect5 emails and the weekly Virtual Backpack. We will also post related information and links in this section of the Armstrong website.

Thank you,

Kelley Petralia (
